MiG, a 12-year-old Mexican boy from a shoemaker's family, had a musical dream since childhood, but music was forbidden by his family, and they thought they were cursed by music. When MiG secretly pursued his musical dream, he touched a guitar and set foot on the land of the dead.
Every year, on the festival of the dead, the deceased family members return to the world to reunite with their loved ones, but no one has ever been to the world of the dead. MiG was shocked by the colorful world of the dead, and to his surprise, he reunited his lost grandfather and grandparents, and the family had to find a way to send MiG back to the world.

电影命名
《寻梦环游记》的英文名为《Coco》。电影原定名《DiadelosMuertos》（即亡灵节），引发了争议。2013年5月11日，迪士尼申请商标“Día de los Muertos”，这一举动引发了墨西哥裔美国人的不满；
